Logan has been participating in the sport of triathlon for 8 years. His favourite race is the Apple Triathlon in Kelowna, BC. Logan's racing goal for 2015 is to position himself better out of the water. Some of the other activities that Logan enjoys are cross country, track, and playing basketball.
Ryan enjoys racing triathlons as well as playing volleyball. This year he has taken a step back from club volleyball and has committed full time to training with ETA as well as maintaining honors. This upcoming race season his goal is to come out of the water in the second pack. Other things Ryan enjoys is hanging out with friends, playing volleyball, and listening to music.
Carli has been training and racing in triathlons for the past 3 years. She currently trains with the Calgary Kronos Triathlon Club. Her favourite race is the Kelowna Apple Triathlon because of the exciting atmosphere and well-designed race course. One of her many goals this year is to participate in all of the National Junior Series races to the best of her ability.
Christiane has been racing triathlons since age 6 when her parents first introduced her to the sport. Since then she has been swimming competitively until she joined the Edmonton Triathlon Academy in early 2015. Under the coaching of Kevin Clark she has greatly improved her skills and speed. Her favourite race from 2015 was the Kelowna Apple Triathlon. In addition to triathlon, Christiane participates in cross country running, basketball, and volleyball.
Katie started training with Kronos Triathlon
Club 3 years ago and has competed in many triathlons since then. Her
favourite race was the Memphremagog Triathlon because there were many
talented athletes from all across Canada to compete against and learn
from. This race season Katie has many goals, two of which are becoming
more efficient in her bike drafting skills and competing in all of the
National Junior Series races.
Aidan has been swimming with the Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club in Medicine Hat for 8 years and has just recently made the leap into triathlon. He enjoys the diversity it brings to his training and looks forward to competing in the sport for many years to come. His favourite race thus far was the Kelowna Pushor Mitchell Triathlon because of the beautiful venue and strong competition. When he is not training, Aidan enjoys tinkering with bikes and hanging out with his friends.
Elise has been training with her family in the sport for 10 years. Of all the disciplines, she enjoys the swim the most. Elise is excited and ready for another great year of racing. This will be her first year racing as a Junior, alongside her older sister.
Marissa has been racing in triathlon since she was four years old. She enjoys training and competing in the sport with her sisters and is looking forward to another fun and challenging race season.
Jasmine has been competing in triathlons for 5 years and her favourite leg of the race is the run. Her favourite race in 2015 was Youth National Championships in Magog, where she placed 6th. Jasmine joined the Edmonton Triathlon Academy last summer and has been improving ever since. In the off season she loves cross country running and competed at cross country nationals the past two years. Ringette is also a high priority to her in the winter, playing for the Zone 5 AA team. Jasmine's goals are to improve her swim and keep up with her bike pack this year!
Mathias loves running and cycling competitively. When it comes to triathlon, the swim is just bonus fun! Outside of the sport of triathlon, Mathias loves skiing, basketball, volleyball, soccer and reading books and chillin'. His favourite event to date was the 2015 ITU Edmonton triathlon of the national junior series.
Neo has been racing triathlon for 10 years. The Kelowna Apple Tri has always been one of his favourites, but his experience last summer at the Edmonton ITU race rates as his most memorable. A competitive swimmer since the age of 6, his focus is now turning towards improving his running and cycling as he moves up to the junior elite distance in 2016. Neo also enjoys longboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
Evan has raced in triathlon for 3 years. He looks forward to many years of triathlon and would like to go far with triathlon. His favorite part of triathlon is cycling and his goal is a stronger run leg performance. He is interested in sports medicine as a future possible career as well as continuing to compete in triathlon.
I did my first triathlon in St. Albert at 8 years old and I immediately knew this was my sport. Since then I have enjoyed racing all over Alberta and in the last two years at the Apple Pushor triathlon in Kelowna . When I'm not training with the Edmonton Triathlon Academy, I enjoy cross country running, swimming with the Parkland Pirates and spending time with my family and friends,but my favourite activity is training for triathlons. I also enjoy volunteering as a helper for both the Special Olympics program and summer swim lessons. I really look forward to learning from each training session, and putting all the skills together to perform at my best in 2016.
Kathryn was a cyclist in her hometown of Drayton Valley until she tried the local triathlon at the age of 9. She didn’t get into triathlon competitively until 2014 when she joined the Edmonton Triathlon Academy. Not only is Kathryn a triathlete, but she is juggling competitive cross country skiing and horse jumping as well. In the small amount of spare time she has left, Kathryn loves to hang out with her horses and friends. Kathryn’s goal for 2016 is to podium in one of the youth national series races.
Cooper has trained with the ETA for 1 year and swam competitively for 10 years before the ETA. Cooper enjoys bike and swim racing along side triathlon. Cooper is 17 years old. His favourite race is the Kelowna Apple Triathlon because it is a fun race and it is warm. Cooper's other favourite activities are mountain biking, javelin, dodgeball and swimming with the dolphins.
Abby did her first triathlon at the age of 7 after learning to swim as a member of the St. Albert Sailfish Swim Club and has loved it ever since. Her passion is athletics and she has competed in a variety of sports from a young age. A few of the sports that she has tried are: ski racing, speed skating, hockey, ringette, volleyball, basketball, swimming, track, and soccer. Currently Abby is a member of the Edmonton Triathlon Academy and she also plays competitive soccer where she has played for the Northern Alberta team over the last 3 years. Her favourite triathlon is the Kelowna Apple Triathlon. She hopes to continue to progress in triathlon and one day compete at an international level.
Carley enjoys all aspects of triathlon and training with her friends. Carley especially likes meeting new people through the races and on the provincial team. In addition to triathlon, she plays Midget AAA hockey for the Red Deer Chiefs. Her favourite race is the Pike Lake Saskatchewan Triathlon because of the many talented triathletes and the well-designed bike and run courses.
Solen has been competing in triathlons for several years. He trains in Lethbridge with LASC and Lethbridge Track and Field. Solen also enjoys basketball and playing guitar. He is looking forward to a great season of racing.
Parker has been training in triathlon for 3 years and competing for the last 2 years. His favourite part of triathlon is coming off of the bike and into the run with a pack. He enjoyed racing at Nationals in Magog as well as participating in the 2014 Alberta Summer Games in Airdrie. In his spare time, he enjoys being with friends, listening to music, and riding his bike or longboard.
