ATA Member Assistance Opportunities  Available!!!

One of the responsibilities that comes along with being an athlete is covering your own traveling costs. This can get pretty pricey, and as much as the ATA would love to help assist as many members as possible, we too have limited funding available for traveling athletes. However, here are a few grant opportunities available for you to apply for in the future if you meet the requirements.

 

Current Grants available to Alberta Athletes:

City of Edmonton Travel Grant

 
This Grant exists to assist residents of Edmonton to pay travel costs from Edmonton to a destination for the purpose of competing in a Western Canadian, National, or International sport championship competition.

Alberta Athlete Development Program (AADP)

 
Through direct support and assistance by the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Athletics Alberta is able to assist Alberta's top athletes with their future individual training and competition expenses by awarding funding based on individual accomplishments at the Provincial and National levels as well as those performances measured against Athletics Alberta standards.

Coach and Official Development Initiatives


The new Coach and Official Development Initiatives provide opportunities to further coaching and officiating development in Alberta.  These initiatives parallel the priorities identified in both the Alberta Sport Plan and the Federal-Provincial/Territorial Priorities for Collaborative Action that was developed as part of the Canadian Sport Policy.  The initiatives are:>

Above and Beyondprovides support to coaches and officials to pursue educational or developmental opportunities.
 
Visitationprovides support to Provincial Sport Associations and their clubs to offset travel and accommodation costs to host an out of province or out of country coach or official.
Alberta Coaches Education Voucheropportunity is offered through the partnership with the ASRPWF and the Alberta Schools' Athletic Association.  The focus is to support and encourage high school teacher/coaches and physical educators to pursue NCCP certification by providing them with a voucher to be used towards an NCCP course.

Grande Prairie Pursuit of Excellence Fund-Individual Athletes


Funding assistance is available for Individual Athletes who have taken sport to the next level of excellence by being selected to a provincial or national team.

Individual Athlete funding to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year will be available. In order to be considered, each application must include a budget indicating other sources of revenue as well as the expenses for each event.
Examples of budgetary items which will be considered for funding are registration fees, travel, meals and accommodation.
